ISP welcomes new Head of School to Baton Rouge International School

The International Schools Partnership (ISP) is delighted to announce that Vicki Jarrell has been appointed as the new Head of School for Baton Rouge International School (BRIS) in the USA. After a thorough search process that engaged leaders across ISP, Vicki was selected from an international pool of diverse and talented candidates.

We were especially impressed by Vicki’s passion for international education, her demonstrated love of learning, her care for the student experience, her vision, charisma, and most importantly, her deep alignment with the school’s mission and values. Based on her successful and inspirational school leadership experience, we are confident that BRIS will continue to thrive under her leadership.

Sarah Graves, ISP Regional Managing Director – USA, said: “We are so pleased to welcome Vicki to our Baton Rouge International School (BRIS) and our ISP US team. It has been wonderful to work with Vicki in person at the school over the last few weeks. Vicki has made an immediate positive impact on the school community, offering calm, considered and experienced leadership to the dedicated staff and teaching teams who are getting ready to reopen our school buildings in the week beginning August 10. We are looking forward to the upcoming academic year and working in partnership with Vicki and the BRIS team in continuing to offer our students amazing learning experiences!”

Vicki is an accomplished school administrator who has served in a variety of teaching, counseling, and leadership roles throughout her 33-year career. Vicki has experience in a range of school sizes and curricula and feels passionate about international education and giving students the chance to be ‘citizens of the world.’

She joins Baton Rouge International School from Meisler Middle School, a diverse school with 1,000 students located in Metairie, Louisiana, where she was the Principal since 2018. There, she played an integral role in all aspects of school life: from hiring and mentoring 100+ teachers and staff to serving as the instructional leader in charge of curriculum and staff professional development.

Vicki is passionate about the IB curriculum, describing it as ‘how education should be.’ She has previous training and experience with IB PYP, MYP, and Diploma Programmes. Before Meisler Middle, she served as the District Gifted Education Coordinator for Westerville City Schools in Westerville, Ohio, where she helped develop education plans for DP gifted students. Prior to that role, Vicki was the Principal at Emerson World Cultures Magnet School, a school comparable to BRIS in its international focus and mission. Under her leadership, the World Cultures Magnet School was ranked as the number one school in Ohio for community service by League.org (2010) and ranked sixth out of the top 100 schools in Central Ohio by Columbus Monthly (2006).

Vicki’s classroom experience and counseling background have been instrumental in her ability to create positive and trusting relationships with staff, students, and parents, as well as in driving campus engagement, communications, community relations, and fundraising efforts. She is a life-long learner and pushes for continuous improvement and is in the business of growing people and growing schools. Vicki is hugely enthusiastic about this opportunity and believes that BRIS is where she will be happy and make a real difference.

Please join us in welcoming Vicki to ISP.
