Amanda Hughes

Principal, Laude San Pedro International College

Amanda joined International Schools Partnership (ISP) as the Principal of Laude San Pedro International College in 2018. She holds a B.Ed. in Business Studies from the University of Wales and a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from the University of Buckingham.

Amanda and her family took a gap year following the birth of her son and traveled around Europe. It was during this journey they decided to live and work in Spain, as they all wanted to be surrounded by the Spanish culture and the welcoming people.  Amanda has been fortunate to work in both the public and selective system within the UK, as well as two other private international schools in Spain.  During her time in one of these posts, Amanda led the secondary school and sixth form through the first British Schools Overseas accreditation in the world, which subsequently led to HMC status.  Amanda is keen to promote the skills and personal qualities which students in international schools gain beyond those within a more traditional setting. She sees great value in ensuring that students have the opportunity and confidence to study, work and live without the concerns of geographical frontiers.  As a lead inspector for National Association of British Schools in Spain (NABSS) , Amanda enjoys collaborating with other British and international schools; she has presented a paper to the National Conference on leading towards BSO accreditation.

Amanda’s hobbies include walking with her dog, exploring Spain, creating tapestries and painting water colours.
