Mark McCullough

Principal – British School Geneva

Mark was born in Northern Ireland and moved to London after completing his Post Graduate Certificate in Education (P.G.C.E). He is now in his twenty first year in education, having served as a French and German teacher, Head of Year, Assistant Head, Deputy Head, Head of School and Principal in state, faith, academically selective and international schools in several countries. He studied French and Modern History, and then completed a post graduate degree in Education. Fluent in English and French, he is committed to schools where students and staff are successful learners, confident individuals and global citizens. Core values such as: compassion, honesty, respect, responsibility and resilience are encouraged at all levels in school. Eternally striving to improve teaching & learning, he has trained as an Advanced Skills Teacher assessor, worked on assessment with Homerton College, Cambridge, to ensure that learning is at the core of the school’s purpose.

Mark has successfully led GCSE, A level, and BTEC accreditation processes in several schools, and has extensive experience in whole school continuous improvement in in curriculum development, teaching and learning, leadership and management, pastoral care, evaluation and administration needed to meet rigorous international school standards. He believes that all students, staff and parents must work together to develop the three-way partnership, can learn from each other and develop in a safe and active environment where their unique talents can be recognised and encouraged too enable everyone to get better.

Mark is happily married with 6 children, 5 of whom are in each of the key stages at BSG in attend; his eldest son who is currently reading Law at university. He enjoys reading, travelling, cooking, socializing with friends and spending time with his family.
