Nick Rugg

Regional Managing Director – Europe

Nick grew up in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the UK,  where his parents were both involved in education. At a young age he also decided that he wanted to pursue a career in education and after graduating from Cambridge University, and armed with a PGCE and a Diploma in Education Psychology, he set about forging a career as a teacher of History. This journey soon led him abroad, first to Athens and then later to Thailand and Chile. By the time he returned to the UK in 2007 he had become an experienced Head both in international and bilingual schools, having acquired Spanish in South America too and having developed a real passion for school improvement.

He joined the International Schools Partnership (ISP) in 2015 to oversee the first group of schools in Spain. He immediately warmed to the mission of ISP with its focus on measurable pupil and student learning and found the drive and growth of the group an exciting environment in which to work. Since he started, the Spanish group has evolved into a wider European group of 12 schools and Nick has enjoyed the way in which the Heads and the European team have grown together into a strong and single-minded unit.

When not on a train, plane or automobile and away from work Nick unwinds with a good book and a catch up on Coronation Street. In his summers he always likes to grab some time on and around the Greek islands, growing a beard and taking the wheel of a sailing yacht.
