Pilar Villanueva

Financial Controller – Mexico & Central America

Pilar recently joined International Schools Partnership (ISP) as the Financial Controller for Mexico. She is a Public Accountant who graduated from the Universidad La Salle in Mexico City. Pilar started her career with Arthur Andersen in the Financial Audit Division and was also responsible for their professional training program. She has held several roles in finance and internal audit and has strong knowledge of  internal control, and design and implementation of policies and procedures.

Pilar has worked in multinational companies in different industries with local and regional responsibilities in Mexico, Venezuela and the United States. Her experience has given her exposure to different cultures, environments and new ways of thinking. When she was studying, her chosen social service project was teaching adults how to read and write. She found it very rewarding listening to her students reading out loud and writing notes. Pilar thinks this was an amazing experience because it confirmed that it is never too late to learn, and that we can help teach each other.

Pilar likes to travel, mainly to cultural or historical places, workout and loves opera and classical music. She sings in a choir and has participated in several concerts, some of these with symphonic orchestras in renowned venues such as the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. Her favorite choral piece is Handel´s Messiah.
