Severine Collins

Principal, Claremont School, Europe

Severine joined Claremont School, UK in January 2023. She has 28 years’ experience in independent education, both in the UK and abroad. After starting her teaching career in Yorkshire, Severine became the Head of Modern Languages at Brighton College where she remained for 5 years before moving to Switzerland to run the IB Middle Years Programme in an international bilingual school. Wanting to further enhance her career in teaching and to explore her passion for technology and the opportunities it offers students for learning, Severine returned to the UK to do a Master’s Degree in ICT and eLearning education at Kings College London, for which she received a Distinction. She resumed her career as Vice Principal before becoming Principal at Worthgate School in Canterbury.

Severine is committed to educational excellence and to ensuring all students have a positive, enriching and rewarding experience during their time in school. She is a passionate believer in the transformative power of education to develop leadership, courage, respect and integrity in students as well as academic prowess. She believes that it is vitally important to raise young people to become strong, confident and independent young adults, successfully equipped to face the growing challenges of university and society upon leaving school. Her wide experience in teaching and learning as well as boarding has equipped her with understanding for the needs of our domestic and international students alike, and she endeavours to work closely with her colleagues to ensure our students feel supported yet challenged, safe but independent, and understanding of others whilst remaining individuals.

In her free time, Severine likes to go for long walks with her little Chihuahua Charlie, visit galleries, museums and grand historical houses. She is a keen interior designer and loves to restore or upcycle furniture.
