Head of School – Colegio Pedro De Valdivia Providencia

Tomás was born in Santiago de Chile, where he started his teaching career as a Spanish Language lecturer at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Santiago (The Pontifical Catholic University of Chile) and he remained for a big part of his working life.

Being awarded The Domingo Faustino Sarmiento Prize, by the Argentine government for the best thesis of the year, confirmed his vocation for writing and teaching. Whilst teaching, he also pursued his passion for art by leading painting workshops, holding exhibitions and preparing students to take their university entrance exams.

The year 2003 marked a definitive point in his professional career when he started the role of Head   Colegio Pedro de Valdivia, Providencia. He considers it as an important professional achievement to have been able to consolidate an educacional instiution that required imagination and effort to raise enrollment and performance standards.

In more recent years, Tomás has participated in research, presented books on Education and has also developed his Human Resources management, which he tries to apply every day for the benefit of his students and peers.

In his spare time, Tomás enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and collecting minerals and snails. Since he was a child he has been an avid stamp collector and his friends also say he is very a good cook!
