Vicki Jarrell

Head of School – Baton Rouge International School 

Vicki is an accomplished school administrator who has joined the Baton Rouge International School as the Head of School.  She has served in a variety of teaching, counseling, and leadership roles throughout her 32-year career. A native of South Louisiana, she spent nearly 20 years in Ohio where she had amazing opportunities for growth. It was there that she first learned about the International Baccalaureate curriculum, describing it as the best approach for students take ownership of  their learning.  She has her Master’s in Counseling and a Bachelor’s in Psychology with a minor in marketing.  This experience has instrumental in her ability to create positive and trusting relationships with staff, students, and parents, as well as in driving campus engagement, communications, community relations, and fundraising efforts. She is a life-long learner and pushes for continuous improvement and is in the business of growing people and growing schools. Her interests and passions include growth mindset and the work of Carol Dweck, Emotional Intelligence, and the development of leadership skills as a side effect of surviving adversity.

When not working, you can find Vicki spending time with her family,  reading “who-dunnits”, writing plays, acting and directing community theater. She is looking forward to directing Mathilda this summer!
