The Parent & Community Programme

The ISP Parent and Community Programme has been developed to encourage open relationships with parents/carers as an essential part of helping students to learn and get better. It includes a series of online webinars to engage parents in the career learning process of their children and to enable them to better support and understand their child’s future pathway.

Through provision of knowledge parents will feel empowered as they understand how they can support their children.

The power of role models and Career decisions: Closing the imagination gap

Summary:

Linda Calhoun, Founder, and CEO, of Careergirls.org- knows parents and family members are your child’s first mentors. Learn about Linda’s experience with Career Girls, a diverse community of over 800 accomplished women role models who support and reinforce concepts such as financial literacy, leadership, and integrity. Linda will walk the audience through the impact of integrating the Career Girls video, curriculum, and free virtual camps in the lives of children in supporting them to discover their paths to a successful life and rewarding career

Talk 2

Careers of the Future every parent needs to know about

20th & 27th October 2022

Summary:

The ever-changing landscape of work and careers confirms that children will be entering a very different working world to that of their parents. In addition to new fields of study, students will be exposed to new ways of work and new ways to measure success as they navigate assuming agency in their own decision-making process. Parents and guardians experience the need to better understand the paradigmatic changes that are quickly occurring in order to promote their child’s empowerment.

Professor and Director of the Global Academy IE University - Spain

Professor Carlos Pallero Guerrero has been teaching courses in Law and Psychology for undergraduate students at IE University since 2013. He is also the Academic Director of the IEU Global Counselor Academy since 2020. Professor Pallero is Founder and Director of Mente Colectiva through which he offers Consulting for Academia. His experience includes Executive Coaching, particularly within a PLN & Emotional Intelligence coaching framework, as well as a School Careers Counselor at a school for over a decade. Professor Pallero is Licensed in Psychoeducation from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and holds a Master in Educational Coaching with PLN and Emotional Intelligence from Universidad Camilo Jose Cela. Most recently, he completed a Master in Neuropsychology and Education at UNIR – La Universidad en Internet.

Dr. Shanton Chang

Dr. Shanton Chang

Assoc Dean. School of Computing & Inform. Systems, Eng & IT. University of Melbourne

Dr. Shanton Chang is the Associate Dean at the School of Computing & Inform. Systems, Eng & IT at the University of Melbourne. His research focuses around information seeking behavior in Business, Educational and Health contexts as well as Information Systems Security Culture and Management. Dr Chang has published “Digital Experiences of the International Student” along with Catherine Gomes in 2020. Dr Chang graduated from the University of Western Australia in Commerce (Hon), Workforce Training and Development. He completed a graduate certificate in University Teaching, Education from the University of Melbourne and earned his PhD in Management from Monash University.

Summary:

The possibility of landing an athletic scholarship to access higher education in the United States is a hot topic for student/athletes and their parents. There is so much information available that it becomes hard to navigate. Holly Smith will focus on some key information for all.

Holly Smitt Abbott is the founder and president of International Credential and Sport Advising LLC since June 2014. Previously, she was Assistant Director of International Academic Certifications at the National collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) between August of 2007 and April of 12014. Holly worked as Compliance Assistant at Richmond University between June 2006 and April 2006. Holly graduated Cum Laude from Wofford University and completed her Master in Sports Leadership at Virginia Commonwealth University.
